ALEX MORGAN BIO
Morgan was born to Pamela Morgan (age 30) Morgan and Michael Morgan on July 2 1989. She was raised by her parents in Diamond Bar, Los Angeles. Morgan enjoyed many activities as a youngster, but only began to play soccer when she was 14 years old. Morgan was a member of the Cypress Elite club team and was awarded the Coast Soccer League under-16 championship. She also came in third in the under-19 bracket. Morgan continued to improve her skills in soccer at Diamond Bar High School. Morgan was named an All-American Athlete by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). In addition, she was a part of the regional and state divisions of the Olympic Development Program (ODP). Morgan continued her soccer career at UC Berkeley, where she was the leader of the California Golden Bears team in scoring since the beginning of her season. She was instrumental in getting the team into the NCAA Tournament all four years and twice to the second round. Morgan was one of the four finalist for the Honda Sports Award. She was also the first Hermann Trophy finalist from her school. When she graduated at the beginning of 2010, Morgan was ranked third in all-time points and goals for Berkeley. Morgan was a soccer player at the collegiate as well as national levels throughout her education. Morgan suffered an ACL injury the first time she played for Berkeley. It prevented her from playing in U.S. women's under-20 soccer until April of 2008. In Mexico Morgan scored her first international soccer goal during the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship. Morgan was also a part-time player in the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. She scored four goals, and earned her team a gold-medal. One of them was a win goal against Italy which helped earn the U.S. a place in the 2011 World Cup. Morgan was the youngest player of the team, and he helped the team win against France. Morgan was the team's youngest player and led them to victory against Japan.
